My name is Akello Gorety, age 20. I am an orphan.
I am the head of our family and in total we are a family of 3. I have been looking after my two younger siblings since I was very young after the death of both our parents.
My youngest brother Ocakacon Ronald is now 13 and the older brother Delex is now 19 years old.
DO! has been helping us since I was 13 years old. Ronald is at the Broadway Primary School as a boarder and my middle brother has been trained by DO! as a mechanic.
After spending my adolescence helping my siblings to grow up it is now time for me to get some skills. Please help me get out of my life of extreme poverty by giving me a skill and a viable future. I want to be a tailor.
Vocational school training is not free. It is beyond our family’s ability to pay because the fees are too high to be supported by our subsistence farming. The nearest school training tailors is in Kitgum which is 30 kilometres away. This distance means I will have to board at Vocational School during term time, which makes it expensive.
Please help me with the cost of the course fees, requirements and training tools. To Diploma Level recognised qualification the costs are £1,200 .
A total of £1,200 to enable me to be qualified and earn a living that takes me out of poverty.
